No big announcements. Couture just explained his decision for leaving the UFC. He said it was an accumilation of mostly small things.
*He had trouble getting extra tickets and hotel rooms for friends and family.
*He was overlooked for a bonus for finishing the Gonazaga fight early.
*He waited over 2 weeks after talking to Dana about these issues, and they basicly blew him off before he announced his resignation.
*He has "resigned" from the UFC. NOT retired!!!
*His understanding of the contract is that he had to have 4 fights within an 18 month period. He believes that after 9 more months, he will be free of his UFC obligation (but this will likely be disputed in court by Dana).
*He does feel he has a few fights left in him, but he is talking to nobody about signing with other organizations, or fighting.
*Bodog had offered Randy 3 million to fight Fedor while he was retired. Randy brought this to the attention of Dana who offered Randy an immediate title shot with Sylvia.
*Randy was greatly insulted that the UFC was willing to offer Fedor far more than Randy has ever made in his 11 years (while holding 6 titles) in the UFC.
If this goes to court Randy will have the Gersh Agency http://gershagency.com/ behind him. They have been dealing with sports contracts for like 60 years. Can you imagine what would happen if Randy beat his contract in court?? The gate would be open for any fighter Dana had under contract to leave. I am sure all the contracts Dana has is similar to the one Randy has.
