Hey all my name is Matt i am 5'8" and 159lbs. I have been into watching UFC for about 2 years now. At my university we have an MMA club that is teaching us the basics and i am really enjoying it. So I am looking into training at the Renzo Gracie Pa Academy when i get home for the summer. I am 20 years old so i was wondering if it is to late for me to try and train to get into Amateur fights. Also what gear would you all recommend me getting to start out.

Cup and MouthPiece :) You might be required to get a gi. As you get into it more you will want to get some good shorts (I really like Sprawl. They seem to be ahead of the curve) gloves and wrist wraps. Other protective stuff just go with the crowd. You don't want to walk in decked out with head gear, shin pads etc when no one else is using them.
