I have never seen Shogun perform so badly. He was gassed halfway through the second round!! Randy said something in his Natural Picks about Shogun having problems. This was before the fight. Does anyone know what he was referring to. Not trying to take anything away from Forrest. Forrest was a monster that fight.

I had Forrest from the start based on heart. Forrest fights back better than most people... hurt him and he is back in your face. Shogun may be the better fighter... but Forrest brought more heart to the ring. Sometimes it comes down to who wants it more...

Forrest looked awesome, his Striking & his ground game,The cut didnt seem to bother him either. I was surprised Shogun gassed but from there it was just a case of how & when Forrest was gonna finish him.

I'm surprised it took Forest so long to finish after Shogun gassed. And to answer the question as to what was wrong w/ Shogun...... he's fat

So apparently, Shogun is in the hospital w/ a major head injury, which is why he wasn't at any of the post fight stuff.

[quote=http://www.mmaweekly.com/absolutenm/templates/dailynews.asp?articleid=4766&zoneid=2]Despite the widespread rumors to the contrary, Mauricio “Shogun” Rua has not suffered a serious brain injury. In fact, he is getting ready to head back home to Brazil.
It seems to happen after every major Ultimate Fighting Championship event. Rumors and speculation abound. The leading buzz after UFC 76 in Anaheim, Calif. on Saturday night – where Rua lost his UFC debut to Ultimate Fighter veteran Forrest Griffin – was that Rua had suffered a serious brain injury, leaving him in serious condition.
Not so says Chute Boxe jiu-jitsu coach Cristiano Marcello. “Everything is fine,” said Marcello when asked about Rua’s physical condition. “I just had breakfast with him [Monday] morning in Hollywood. He is getting ready to go back home to Brazil [on Tuesday]. Everything is cool, he’s perfect.”
It is good to know that, at least physically, Rua has not suffered any serious repercussions from his third-round submission to Griffin’s rear naked choke. But the questions still abound about what happened in his UFC debut, where the world’s top-ranked light heavyweight fighter, especially as the fight wore on, tended to look lackluster.
“It’s a fight,” said Marcello, making no excuses. “Someone has to win, someone has to lose. Forrest was the better fighter that night.
“The first two rounds, I think [Rua] wins. The third, [Griffin] was a little bit better and he caught him. It happens. He is going to go [home] to train hard and get better.”
[/quote]
Found this on MMAWeekly sounds like the word now is, he was not hurt. Who knows, anytime there is an upset like this rumor are bond to surface

He has ALOT of conditioning to do before he comes back to fight again. That's about as gassed as I've seen a fighter get. Toward the end, he couldn't do anything but stand there and let Forrest hit him and whatever else he wanted to do to him. It was kind of sad. It would be a horrible feeling to be too tired to defend yourself.

Maybe he just gives way to Forrest. He is already the best so he gave Forrest a chance. What do you think guys? He is already famous. Right?
